Coaching Staff

James Tomasello Director of on Field Operations Coach James has 20 years coaching experience at the High School level. He currently serves as the Varsity Pitching Coach at Holy Trinity High School.  Coach James has coached on three Catholic High School Championship teams and two High School All-Star teams.  Many of his former players have gone on to play college baseball and three of his former players have been drafted by the Red Sox, Twins and Cardinals and are currently in the minor leagues.  Since joining the Black Diamonds in 2013 his teams have won multiple tournaments including the Boys of Summer league championship.

Rich Pecoraro 14U Head Coach/Hitting Instructor Richie is the assistant varsity coach for Islip High School and the assistant coach for the Black Diamonds. He has been giving hitting lessons and coaching for over a year. Before he began coaching, Richie played two years at Southern New Hampshire University(DII), then transferred to St. Joseph’s College(DIII) in 2011. Richie fought his way into the starting lineup for the Golden Eagles where he hit a combined .405 in his two years. In 2012, his senior year, Richie won All-Skyline Conference, All-New York Region, ECAC metro all-star team, and team MVP honors. He also broke the single season team RBI record with 42 runs-batted-in in 2012.

Dave Rivera 17U Head Coach/Pitching Instructor  Dave played college baseball at NJCAA DI (at the time) Briarcliffe College making two College World Series Appearances. Finishing his career with Dowling College DII (NAIA). Coach Rivera started his coaching career in 2001 as assistant/pitching coach for Briarcliffe College. In 2006, coach Rivera ended his tenure at Briarcliffe with a National Title and several Regional Titles. Coach Rivera also coached in the ACBL (Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League) in June of 2006. Working as pitching coach for the Long Island Stars.Currently, Coach Rivera is coaching Varsity baseball at Central Islip High School.He is also a certified speed & agility specialist, certified in FMS (Functional Movement Specialist) and Crossfit Level 1. Coach Dave led the 2015 15U team to a Boys of Summer Championship as well as  New York Elite Baseball Championship.
Kevin Osburn 17U Head Coach  Coach Osburn has over 20 years coaching experience, including every level from little league to college. He is currently serving as a Middle School Head Coach.  He has coached travel ball on Long Island for the past 15 years. In High School he earned All State Honors and won a State Title. In addition he was named to the District All Star Team. After High School he played Collegiately at the University of Arkansas.
Stephen Provenzano 15U Asst. Coach/Catching Instructor During high school Stephen excelled in three sports football baseball and wrestling. In wrestling Stephen was a county Champion and placed 4th in New York State. In baseball Stephen was on varsity four 5 years. Stephen caught on Islip’s state championship team. He was also a three time all league and 1 time all county player. In college he attended SUNY Oneonta where he wrestled and played baseball. He was a four year member of both. He was a two time all conference wrestler and place in the collegiate states. On the baseball team Stephen finished his career with a 1.000 fielding percentage defensively behind the plate and was a 2 year captain.
Dennis Macmanaway 16U Head Coach Coach Dennis has over 20 years of coaching experience at the College and High School levels. He has won a College Division title and several High School playoff appearances throughout the years.  2 of his former players were drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants, with several others receiving Division One NCAA baseball scholarships. Current Varsity coach at William Floyd High School.
Jon Kaese 16U Asst. Coach/Pitching Coach Jon served as  the 1st base & defensive coach on the L.I. Black Diamonds 2013 Championship team. Jon is a former outstanding high school player. During his time as a West Islip Lion All-Star pitcher/outfielder, he received several league honors. Jon went on to play in College and the United States Coast Guard. In 2005 Jon had a try out with the Milwaukee Brewers. Jon is currently on the coaching staff at Holy Trinity High school.
Evan Weinstein 17U Asst. Coach Evan came to the Diamonds after a successful High School career including a Long Island Championship at West islip High School in 2014. His success was contaigious intantly. In his first tournament experience, he helped lead last summers 15U team to a NY Elite Baseball Wood Bat Championship.
Jay Loviglio Hitting Instructor/Baseball AdvisorJay is celebrating his fifth year with the Black Diamonds as the organizational hitting instructor.   Jay played in the major leagues for 4 seasons with the Phillies, Cubs and White Sox and then went on to coach for 20 years. He last served as hitting instructor with the Atlantic League Champion, Long Island Ducks. Some of Jay’s notable players he coached are; Jose Bautista (Blue Jays), Joe Girardi (Yankees) and Lew Ford (Orioles).
Richie Zec 14U Asst. Coach. Another very successful High School Player joins the Black Diamond organization.  Riche not only joins the Black Diamonds with a Long Island High School Championship in his resume but also is a scholar athlete and will be able to stress the importance of both as our younger players begin their High School careers.
